Lies aren't helpful, but they comfort us
They keep you indulged and they keep you deranged
They make you unheard of and entertained
When the Truth is the good and all that you do
You point to the broken in spite of you
And then nothing works and you wonder why
But of course they will tell you "because it was a lie."
You can't always hope, as hard as your try
So let them believe you and pass you by
Or tell them you love them and the world that was made
Then show a beauty, do not restrain
Share a few moments, revolve around them
Knowing best how to obtain a friend
If you want a rock, don't trust me here
If you want a partner, my service is near
But we can destroy you unless you obtain
A better foundation, stake a claim
In a vision that fixes, a vision that heals
One that redeems our numerous appeals
Our ruthless discretions and improper gains
Our hesitant choices and excessive refrains
I cannot tell you how far I'll go
To keep my eyes closed to the river of foes
I'll trip on my words and then take off my shoes
As if that was the problem, making certain I'll lose
I'll dwell in the messes and continue to stress
I won't take you with me and I'll take nothing less
Nothing less than the burden I've bought for myself
I'll find you anxious and I won't let you help
But sometimes and someday I'll hear when you say
That this moment's a good one and we've found a good way
To live and be part of each other in spite
Of all that has happened and all that might
Even though all that I've said is true
Love and hope persevere in shades of blue
In oceans of chaos, in beautiful days
In atmospheric wonders too far away
In this moment we hold we embrace what we're told
We'll cherish our youth and discover the old
