WISHFUL THINKING

And then you let them slip away
Go awry
Fall astray
You've reached your limit, but no one knows
That he represents your every foe.
Having your arm wrenched in order to move forward
Aches and stings; strains and sings
A beautiful melody you can't put to sleep
A melody that never wants to let go
She only grips tighter with every woe
The path feels righter
With every rejected misguided attempt
To draw out a heart that is better spent
Growing to know and love itself

But you love that heart he's put aside on a shelf
To ignore, decay
Wander, fray
On the end where the past has built up a play
Of characters who are blind
Deceit and lust
All sitting on that shelf gathering dust.
You're soul throws tantrums for what must be lost
For the waiting that must happen
For friendships tossed

And you can't fix it, even if you could afford to
You can't handle it no matter how much you want to
There's no convincing someone cares more than you
You're eager to move on; to run away
Before your realize you have something to say.

So for now you plead and wait and brew
I promise I wish that I didn't love you
