There is a trick glass given to me by a friend. It has an abstract shape, which is
what draws people to it, but it is also filled with holes. One person may drink water from the glass and observe, as they tip the water to their mouth, the liquid fall from the side onto their lap. As a friend watches this happen, she may take the glass and drink from a different angle in order to avoid the hole, but to the her chagrin finds that several holes exist on the other sides and so she too has water fall into her lap. A third friend sees all this take place and decides “I will cover the holes with my fingers and then be able to drink from the glass.” So she takes her fingers and covers all holes, then tips the glass. Unfortunately, the maneuver is awkward and makes the glass difficult to grasp and she ends up dropping the glass and spills all of the water both on herself and all about her home.
Then there is the fourth friend. She takes the glass, and again fills it with water. She dresses in a rain coat and removes herself from her home. She drinks as much of the water as she can, but she is prepared for some to escape through the holes.
I wonder what it is that she is trying in so many ways to consume...?
